Improve focus and confidence on putts

To improve focus on all putts, we need to know what exactly we need to focus on. Their are two major ways to focus when putting, and they represent two different styles or methods for achieving success on the greens. All good players will use one of these two methods every single time they putt. Lesser skilled putters probably don’t use either, or only use them every now and then. This inconsistent approach is bound to create inconsistent results.
Do you really want to be inconsistent?
I thought not! Try both these methods and find out which suits you best
Method 1
Arc putting
Simply imagine the exact line that you believe the ball will roll on if it were to go in. Consider what colour this line is when you putt your best. You might want to imagine a small gully that leads into the center of the hole. The ball cannot fall out of this gully so what impact will that have on your confidence? Use your imagination to consistently see this line EVERY time you putt.
Consistent thinking leads to consistent scoring!
Method 2
Target putting
Hit every putt as if it is a straight putt, but simple move your imaginary hole or small target around the cup. Forget about the hole and focus purely on your target.
Ever wondered why amateur golfers hate downhill left to right putts? (assuming they are right handed)
It’s because the last thing they do is look at the hole. This becomes their new ‘mental’ target so they push the putt to the right resulting in a ‘low’ miss. Also, they will hit it too hard.
Pick a target 3 feet short of the hole and 2 feet left and hit a straight putt to this target and you will hit a great putt.
The challenge is to pick the correct target, and to do this every time.
